About us

The Centre for Municipal Research (CVM) is a platform for research and development of local governments in the Czech Republic. CVM was founded at the Department of Humanities, Faculty of Economics and Management, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. The Centre includes experts from various fields of social sciences who have been working on the issue of local governments for a long time.

The activities of the CVM are concentrated in three directions based on the three roles of the university:

Scientific

Conducting research and analysis on local government, politics and social processes in municipalities. Creation of a database with relevant data and information concerning all Czech municipalities, which will be available to researchers and the public.

Educational

Organisation of lectures, seminars and round tables on local government and politics. Educational materials and resources available on the CVM website.

Social

Providing advice to Czech municipalities on effective governance and development. Establishing cooperation with other research institutions, ministries, civil associations and other stakeholders working in the field of municipalities.
